James Whalen1956-2014HOLYOKE- James "Jim" Whalen, 58, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Spokane, WA on June 6, 1956 a son of the late Michael and Madeline (Siano) Whalen. Jim worked for Valmet in Chicopee for 17 years and had worked prior at the American Bosch. He was a communicant of the former St. George Church, Chicopee. Jim was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4044. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Marlene Whalen; a daughter, Shannon Whalen and her fiancé Patrick Lipko; a son, Kristopher Whalen; his mother-in-law, Ethel; a sister, Ann Kelley and her husband Don; two nieces, Michelle and Madeline; three nephews, Joseph, Michael, and Anthony; and many friends and loved ones. Jim was predeceased by his father-in-law, Leonard; and a nephew, Donnie. Jim's family will receive relatives and friends at the gathering on Thursday, July 24th from 4-7 p.m. at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St. Chicopee.  Funeral services for Jim will be private.
