Janice E. Haggins

Janice E. Haggins 1922-2007   Springfield- Janice Ellen (Porta) Haggins ,84 Ascended into the Journey of Everlasting Life, May 11, 2007 at Wingate of Springfield. Janice was born in Altoona, Pa., a daughter of the late, Carl G. and Hester M. (Davis) Porta and lived most of her life in the Springfield area. She was employed by Big Y Supermarkets for over 30 years and retired as Deli Manager. Janice was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband, William Haggins. Janice is survived by her devoted family, a son, Peter Haggins and his wife, Donna of Sprngfield; a sister, Jean Allen of Johnstown, Pa.; two sisters in law, Claire Haggins of West Springfield and Rita Haggins of Springfield; 2 grandchildren, Brian Haggins, Erica Morin and her husband, Jason all of Springfield; 3 great grandchildren, Justin Dandurand, William Dandurand, and Ryan Morin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral ceremonies will be held on Wednesday,   8:30 am from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee followed by a procession to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Springfield, for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Janice will be laid to rest in  St . Michael's Cemetery,Springfield. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
