Janice Ellen Vaz

Vaz                                                                      1922-2009   CHICOPEE- Janice Ellen (Churchill) Vaz, 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 6, 2009, in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Chicopee on August 7, 1922, the daughter of the late George R. and Lila C. (Shaw) Churchill. Janice retired in 1987 as a Trading Clerk from the former Bank of New England (Third National Bank) after 15 years of service. She had worked previously as a secretary at Westinghouse for 29 years, and Holyoke Wire & Cable for 1 ½ years. Janice was a life long member of the now disbanded Chicopee Falls United Methodist Church. As an avid golfer, she was a long time member of Ludlow Country Club. Janice was a voracious reader who was perpetually "young at heart" and was a dear friend to all who knew her. Janice was predeceased by her husband, Americo "Mac" Vaz in 1993; and six siblings, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday June 11th at 10 a.m. in the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Abbey Memorial Dr., all in Chicopee. Visiting hours are Wednesday June 10th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 54C Wayside Ave., West Springfield, MA 01089.
