Jeanette R. Meyer1931-2015EAST SPRINGFIELD- Jeanette (Jean) Ruth Hrynyshyn Meyer, 83, of East Springfield, Massachusetts passed peacefully to the arms of God on July 7, 2015 with her family by her side. Born in Sunderland, MA on August 7, 1931, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Alec and Rose (Walko) Hrynyshyn. Upon graduating from Amherst High school, Jeanette lived and worked in New York and New Jersey before returning to Sunderland to care for her father and work at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst in the Accounts Payable Department. She was married to Irving C. Meyer for 37 years before his passing in 2004. They made their home in East Springfield where Jeanette became a home-maker and they raised their 3 children. She was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield formerly known as St. Mary's Church. Jeanette was passionate about her family, instilling in her children the ideal that "family is forever". She had a talent and love for cooking and gardening. Jeanette was predeceased by her 3 brothers; Alec Hrynyshyn, Roger Hrynyshyn, and Rudy Hrynyshyn as well as 5 sisters; Ann Wehren, Jaye Ouimette, Mary Coffey, Olive Swiderski, and Juliette Koncas. She is survived by her daughter Debra Meyer of Suffield, CT and her daughter Grace Malec, Donna Lafond and her husband Stephen of East Springfield, MA and their children Kaitlyn and Ethan, her son Brian Meyer of Whately, MA and his children Alexandria and Charles, her sister and best friend Louise Ciak of Sunderland, MA as well as many nieces, nephews and god-children. Funeral services will assemble on Monday, July 13th at 8:45 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 9 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway St., Chicopee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd, East Springfield. Rites of Committal and burial will follow in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Cemetery, Long Plain Rd. Whately, MA. Jeanette's family will receive relatives and friends at the calling hours on Sunday, July 12th from 4 -8 pm at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr.'s Bogdan Tiru, Samuel Seymour, Pat Mailloux and the Medical ICU Nursing and Respiratory Therapy teams at Baystate Medical Center for the care they gave Jeanette. A very special thank you to Dr.'s Venkataro Medarametla, Puncho Gurung and the Springfield One team for the compassionate care they gave mom and for treating her as one of their own.
