Joan T. Desimone

Joan T. DeSimone 1936-2010 CHICOPEE- Joan "Honey" T. (Sypytkowski) DeSimone, 74, a 50 year Chicopee resident and formerly of Springfield and Westfield, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 31, 2010 at home. She was born in Westfield on February 1, 1936, a daughter of the late Stanley and Stacia (Biela) Sypytkowski. Honey graduated from Westfield High School in 1954. She was a Noon Mother at Litwin School, and retired in 2000 after 30 years as a school crossing guard, both in Chicopee. Honey was an avid Boston Red Sox, UConn Women's Basketball, and New England Patriots fan. She enjoyed crafts, tag sales and watching little league sports. Honey was a communicant of the former St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee. Honey is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Albert A. DeSimone; three sons, Albert A. DeSimone Jr., Ronald A. DeSimone, and Peter J. Patterson, all of Chicopee; two sisters, Marcia Sanford and her husband Dave of Westfield, and Jennifer Lombardi of Feeding Hills; three grandchildren, Anthony and Heather, Scott and Becky and Holly; three great-grandchildren, Ariana, Zoey, and Hunter; a niece, Cheri Rogers and her husband Howard of Agawam; a nephew, Joe Lombardi and his wife Ranae of Palmer; three great-nephews, Zachary, Cody, and Joey; and two great-nieces, Molly and Jillian. She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Leigh. A funeral home service will be held on Monday, June 7th at 11:30 a.m. in the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, with Rites of Committal and inurnment in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. There are no visiting hours. In memory of Honey's love for children, her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Honey's memory to the Children's Hospital Boston, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115 or at www.giving.childrenshospital.org .
