: Joaquim "Jack" Julio 1930-2007 Springfield- Joaquim "Jack' Julio, 77, of Springfield, entered into eternal rest on Saturday April 14, 2007 at home. He was born on February 9, 1930 in Bairro Da Nossa Senhora Da Luz, Obidos, Portugal, a son of the late Julio Francisco and Maria Leonor. Jack is survived by his loving wife who he was a devoted husband to for 51 years, Penny (Ribeiro) Julio; his brother and best friend, Jose Julio and his wife Principlina of Caldas Da Rainha, Portugal; two loving sons, Lionel M. Julio of Chicopee and Dennis Julio and his wife Jennifer of Fairfield, CT; two cherished grandchildren, Adam and Abigail Julio; and several nieces and nephews. He arrived in the United States in March of 1956. Jack was an accomplished accordion player and construction craftsman. He worked at Uniroyal in Chicopee, MA for nearly ten years, as well as the Chicopee Highway Department, and various construction roles. Jack built and remodeled six houses in his lifetime. He was a communicant and very active member of St. Patrick's Church, and a member of the Portuguese American Club, both in Chicopee. Jack's family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses of Baystate Visiting Nurses and Hospice and to doctors Michael Rosen and Jose Vinagre. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 18th beginning at 9 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 319 Broadway, with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Hampden St., all in Chicopee. Jack's family will receive family and friends at the funeral home for visiting hours on Tuesday April 17th from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., P.O.
