John F. Brennan 1932-2012 Chicopee - John F. Brennan, 80, of 651 Burnett Road, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Willimansett East Nursing Home. He was born in Springfield on July 26, 1932 to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Boyle) Brennan. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, John graduated from Chicopee High School in 1950. He was employed as a truck driver for over 26 years working for UPS, Old Colony, and St. Johnsbury, from which he retired in 1989. John was an honorary member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 404. He was very active in local politics, volunteering his support in various political campaigns. John was the chairman of the Western Mass region of the Local Union Political Action Committee and was appointed by Mayor Chessey as commissioner of the Chicopee Water and Sewer Department for 4 years. John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Claire A. (Rivest) Brennan, two daughters, Joanne Menard and her husband Richard of Westmoreland, NH and Kathy Austin and her husband Joe of Belchertown; two sons, Michael Brennan and his wife Bonnie of Granby and Gary Brennan of Chicopee; two brothers, Harry Brennan of NJ and Arthur Brennan of WI; one sister, Hester Mazzotti of NY and 14 grandchildren. John was predeceased by his daughter Lynne Brennan in 1992 and his two brothers, Raymond and Lawrence Brennan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 beginning at 8:30 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd., all in Chicopee.
