Joseph O. Roy 1945-2009   Joseph Oscar Roy, 63, of Chicopee, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in Baystate Medical Center.  Born in Lake Placid, NY he was the son of the late Oscar and Rose (Stone) Roy.  Joseph was a graduate of Lake Placid High School. He continued on at Fort Schuyler Maritime College where he received his degree in nuclear engineering.  He served his country in the Merchant Marines and in the Navy Reserves attaining the rank of lieutenant.  Following his military service he continued his education at Western New England College in Springfield receiving his MBA and at Northeastern University, Boston where he received his mechanical engineering degree.  Joseph was a retired mechanical engineer for the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Co. (MMWEC). Joseph loved boating, wood working, golf hunting and fishing.  He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Springfield and attended St. Mary's Church in East Springfield. He leaves his loving wife of (40) years, Angelina (Molignano) Roy; two sons, Joseph O. Roy, Jr. and his wife Betsy of Belchertown, Peter Roy of West Springfield, a daughter, Rose Mary Roy of Chicopee, three brothers, John Roy and Bernie Roy both of Lake Placid, NY, James Roy of Lady Lake, FL and a sister, Barbara Roy of Lake Placid, NY. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 9 a.m. followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, East Springfield at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee.  Calling hours will be on Monday, August 24, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. For Guest Book: tylunasfuneralhome.com
