IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce E.
Gondek
January 3, 1958 – January 12, 2026
Joyce E. Gondek, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026.
Born to Richard Williams, and Jeannette (Norton) Williams on January 3, 1958, Joyce grew up in and attended Springfield Schools her entire education. After graduating from the High School of Commerce, Joyce began a career in retail, beginning at Serv-U in the Wallpaper department, and later the Children’s Furniture department.
Joyce was always an advocate for education and was extremely active in the Board of Trustees of SABIS International Charter School, where she assisted in the startup of the school. Not only was she an advocate for education, but also happy children. It was very rare that one of her children, nieces or nephews, was not eating lunch on her kitchen floor, or running around her backyard. As well as being an amazing mother, she was also an amazing aunt, sister, and friend, even if it took multiple cups of coffee to do so.
Joyce leaves her husband, John, of Little River, South Carolina, her children Michael Barbieri of Belchertown, Daniel Barbieri and partner Emily Hartmann of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Michael Gondek or Titusville, FL, Maggie Mango and husband Kevin Hill of Agawam, and Tricia Purdy and husband Cliff of Chicopee, MA and her grandchildren Keaton, Jude and Abel. She also leaves her sister Toni Keefe and husband William of Springfield, two nephews Brian Keefe of Chicopee, and Patrick Keefe of Bridgeport, CT, and one niece Erin Sullivan of Hanover, MA. She also leaves her previous husband, Raymond Barbieri, and his wife Laurie Cassidy of West Springfield, MA. She was predeceased by her brother James in 2025.
SERVICES FOR JOYCE WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2026 AT TYLUNAS FUNERAL HOME FROM 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. FOLLOWED BY A PROCESSION TO ST. PATRICK’S CEMETERY ON FULLER ROAD FOR RITE OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL.
