Joyce Marion (Sourdiffe) Gilbert

CHICOPEE FALLS- Joyce Marion (Sourdiffe) Gilbert was called safely home to be with God on May 21, 2024. Born in Springfield on June 5, 1944, she was a daughter of the late William and Eleanor E. (Ashe) Sourdiffe. Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Harold (Jeff) Gilbert. She is survived by her son, Jaj Gilbert, his wife Laura and her grandsons Jack and Patrick Gilbert. She is also survived by her siblings, Judi Thibault, Bill Sourdiffe and his wife Terry, Bucky Sourdiffe, and Joan Skaza and her husband Jan, as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews, their extended families, and those friends that have become family over the years.
Joyce was a small business owner, having an at home daycare and owning a children’s consignment shop in South Hadley. She worked at Lido’s restaurant in Springfield for many years. She was an avid puzzle maker and New England sports fan, especially her favorite: Big Papi and the Red Sox. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Chicopee.
Friends and family are invited to meet at at Ste. Rose de Lima Church on Grattan St., Chicopee at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 for a liturgy of Christian burial. Rite of committal to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fuller Road, Chicopee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to their future education can be made to her grandson‘s, Jack and Patrick Gilbert at Alden Credit Union in Chicopee.
