Jules E. Rivard

Jules E. Rivard, Jr. 1964-2010 Jules E. Rivard, Jr. of Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at home under the care and comfort of his family after a very brave battle with cancer. He was born on August 7, 1964 to Geraldine (Conrad) and Jules E. Rivard, Sr.  Jules grew up in East Springfield and attended local schools.  He worked at the U. S. Postal Service since 1998 and previously worked for AT & T/Verizon.  Love for his family was apparent to all who knew him. He adored his grand kids who brought "Poppie" many happy moments.   Jules loved the summer sun, the beach and a good cup of coffee.  He is survived by the love of his life, best friend and soul mate, who were blessed with over 30 years of togetherness, Susan (Wescott) Rivard; his mother and step father, Geraldine and Edward Quirk of Chicopee; his father and step mother Jules and Imelda (Fleury) Rivard of Springfield; his three beloved daughters and their families; Kimberly and Joseph Philpott and children Joseph, Jr. and Natalie; Kara and Jason Alicea and children Jayden and Kalyssa all of Chicopee and Kathryn Rivard at home; two sisters and their families; Karen and Jeff LaBranche of Singapore and Kristine and Jeremy Aluxek of Chicopee; his three brothers and their families, Richard and Cristina Rivard and Marc and Sheryl Rivard of Manchester, CT; Michael Rivard of Springfield; his four step brothers and their families, Edward and Julie Quirk, Jr., of Rockport, MA, David and Laura Quirk of Easthampton, Dr. James Quirk and his partner Richie Perez of Boston and Douglas Quirk of Baton Rouge, LA; his in-laws, Howard and Elizabeth Wescott of Springfield and his god daughter Kelsey LaBranche of Singapore. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Ochs, Irma, the ladies in the infusion lab and the many close friends who were very supportive during this difficult time.  Whether it was a visit, a call, a text or a meal all were appreciated.  He will be missed by many.  Calling hours will be held at the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee on Friday, August 6, 2010 from 4 - 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from the Tylunas Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. to be followed by a Mass to celebrate Jules' life in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Chicopee at 9:30 a.m.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701.
