Larry Perreault, 76 of Chicopee, MA, passed away on July 9 while in the presence of his family. He was the first son of the late Ernest R. and Elaine C. Perreault.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Penny (Curry) Perreault. Additionally, he leaves his daughter Lori Ann Hughes and her husband Wayne of Ludlow, his sons Larry D. Perreault of Gardner and Timothy L. Perreault of Chicopee and his two brothers Ernest T. Perreault and his wife Jane T. Wilson of Rhode Island and Christopher J. Perreault and his wife Terry of Springfield. He will also be missed by his four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He served for 34 years as a member of Chicopee Fire Department and proudly wore Badge No. 1 at the time of his retirement. He was a communicant at St Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and previously was a member of St. George Church in Chicopee Falls.
He was a Life Member of the Chicopee Knights of Columbus Elder Council #69 as well as a past Grand Knight in 2007 - 2008. He was an active and long serving member and a past President of the Chicopee St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. He volunteered and coached with local Special Olympics teams and was a life long member of the Chicopee Tigers AC.
In his retirement he enjoyed fishing with Penny, gardening and traveling to visit family and friends. In his younger days he excelled at hockey, softball and cross country running. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours and services will be on Monday, July 15 from 4-7PM at the Tylunas Funeral Home at 159 Broadway Street, Chicopee, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Massachusetts Special Olympics at support.specialolympics.org. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date.
