Leo Donald Charron

Leo D. Charron 1931-2009   Leo Donald Charron, 78, of Chicopee passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in the Willimansett East Nursing Center after a long illness.  Born in Chicopee and a life long resident, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ida (Dube) Charron.  Leo was a retired forest ranger for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management. He worked primarily at the Chicopee State Park and also at Skinner State Park.  He retired in 1992 after (29) years of service.  Leo was an Army veteran of the Korean War. A Private First Class he served in the infantry and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee and was an avid Red Sox fan.  Leo leaves his wife of (54) years, Evelyn A. (Gordon) Charron; two sons, Gerald L. Charron and his wife Diane of Chicopee, Roger A. Charron of Chicopee, a cousin Barbara Burger of Chicopee and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Leonard and Robert Charron.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Patrick's Church at 11 a.m.  Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday prior to services from 9 to 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Western Mass Chapter 167 Dwight Rd., Suite 201,  Longmeadow, MA  01106.
