Leon A. Jochim 1925-2005 CHICOPEE- Leon A. Jochim, 79, a life long Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Thursday May 19, 2005 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicopee on September 7, 1925 the son of the late Eugene and Mary Ann (Veneski) Jochim. Leon attended Chicopee schools, and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Chicopee, and a member of East Mountain Country Club, Westfield. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran obtaining the rank of Torpedoman's Mate Third Class, and receiving the WWII victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the Philippine Liberation Theatre Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. Leon retired in 1986 from United Technologies after 10 years of service and had worked prior at the former Worthington Corporation (Atlas Copco), in Holyoke. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game, but his first love was his family. Leon is survived by his loving and devoted wife and best friend of 58 years, Claire I. (Bourguignon) Jochim, two daughters, Sheryl Majka and her husband William of Peru, NY, Karen Chouinard of Chicopee, a brother, Eugene Jochim and his wife Margaret of Chicopee, three grandchildren, Karen, Leon and Loren, two great-grandchildren, Joey and Jackie, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will gather on Monday May 23rd at 10:30 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Patrick'?s Church, 319 Broadway, with Rites of Committal in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., all in Chicopee. Leon?s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday May 22nd from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made in Leon's memory to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., P.O.
