Leon F. Pine Sr. 1942-2005 Leon Frederick Pine Sr., 62, a longtime resident of this city, passed away Wednesday at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Born September 15, 1942 in Camden , NJ to the late Raymond and Anna (Schemelia) Pine, he worked as a tool and die maker for the former Easco Hand Tool Company for 18 years, until his retirement in 1990. Leon enjoyed crab fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, the Boston Red Sox, and the Dallas Cowboys. His proudest moment came when he got to march with his father in his final Mummer's Parade in Philadelphia. Mr. Pine was predeceased by his beloved wife of 31 years, Frances (Mokrzecki) in 2003. He is survived by his loving children, Elbert Pine of NJ, Leon Pine Jr. and his wife Linda of Chicopee, Paula Newman of Springfield, Deborah Koscielski and her husband Glenn of Chicopee, Donna White of Chicopee, several sisters and a brother. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, Jason Newman, Leon Pine III, David, Brian, Holly, and Zachary Pine, Matthew and Mariah White, and close friends, Leo, Mary, and Gene. The family would also like to thank, Dr. Cook, Dr. Patrick LaFond, Kevin Norman RN, Linda Bertrand RN, Laura Fitzgerald RN, and all those who have assisted him through the years. The funeral services will be held Friday evening at 8p.m. at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, with burial to be held Saturday at 11a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, also in Chicopee. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-8p.m.
