Lois Mary Richards

Chicopee - Lois M. Richards, 79, of 79 Casey Drive died Monday, August 20, 2012 at her daughter's home in Holyoke. Born in Hazelton, PA on February 22, 1933 she was the daughter of the late David C. and Bertha E. (Dietrich) Schalles. She lived in Pennsylvania for ten years before moving to Binghamton, NY where she graduated from Binghamton High School in 1949. Lois was a 1953 graduate of Oneonta Teachers College and earned her master degree in education at UMASS and her masters in counseling at Springfield College. She was a teacher at both Selser and Barry Schools in Chicopee and was a guidance counselor at Bellamy Middle School and Fairview School retiring in 1997. Lois was a very dedicated teacher and counselor and loved working in the field of education.  Lois was married to her husband Robert J. Richards for 42 years before he died in 1996. She leaves behind two loving daughters, Janet Morgan and her husband David of Chicopee, and Dorothy Albrecht and her husband Robert of Holyoke; one sister, Dorothy English of Port Orchard, WA; five grandchildren, whom she loved very much, Robert and Jeffrey Morgan, Angela Thatcher, and Zachary and Daniel Albrecht; one great grandson Lukas Morgan; her best friend Sandra Dawson; and her best canine friend, her black and white dog Henry. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway Chicopee from 4-7 pm with a service in the parlor at 7 pm. Private burial at the convenience of the family.
