Louis R. Tergliafera Sr

Louis R. Tergliafera Sr.1923-2014Louis R. Tergliafera, Sr., 91, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Cassidy) Tergliafera was called home to God on December 10, 2014. Son of the late Joseph Tagliaferri and Maria (Pezzatti) Tagliaferri , of Pagnona, Italy. Louis was born in Sheffield, MA but resided in Chicopee Falls for over 60 years.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines in World War II.  He was honorably discharged in 1946. He had several jobs and retired from UniFirst.  After retirement, he was always busy, loved yard work, his flower planting and maintaining a wonderful home for him and his wife.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maria and all his brothers and sisters.  He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth (Cassidy) Tergliafera; one son, Louis Tergliafera, Jr. and his wife, Jeannette of Newport, VT;  and his daughter Diane Tergliafera of Springfield.  He also leaves several nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Robert; and two "grandcats", Layla and Lucy.  He also leaves a very dear friend, Donald Antaya of West Townshend, VT; and Cynthia Biernacki of Springfield who he considered another daughter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 16th beginning at 9 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St. Chicopee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd. Springfield. Rites of Committal will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd. Springfield. Louis' family will receive relatives and friends at the visitation on Monday, December 15th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dakin Animal Shelter, P.O.
