Lucille D. Harland, 93, of Chicopee passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Holyoke Healthcare Center after a brief illness. Lucille was born in Holyoke on October 3, 1926, the eldest child of the late of William Butler and Mary Rhea (Fontaine) Harland. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, she attended St. Patrick Elementary School and graduated from Cathedral High School, in Springfield. She was parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
She worked at the Fisk Tire Company (Later Uniroyal) as a bookkeeper from 1943 until the mid-1950s when she became the business manager for Harland Electric, Co., retiring in 1994. During her time with Harland Electric she was actively involved in the local chapter of Women in Construction, serving as chapter president for several years. Lucille was an avid traveler throughout her life, traveling to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and a host of European countries among other places. She loved to celebrate holidays by hosting family gatherings or picnics, often followed by games.
Lucille was a caring, loving faith-filled person who dedicated her life to helping others. She was a special friend and lifelong supporter of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Lucille is survived by her sisters; Alice Chapin of Berlin, Connecticut and Rhea Perreault of Mary Esther, Florida; two brothers, Butler Harland of Longmeadow and Bernard Harland of Satellite Beach, Florida; sister-in-law Nancy Harland of Longmeadow and many nieces, nephews and extended members of the Harland family. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John T. Harland and Sister Sr. Doris M. Harland, SSJ (Sister Mary William). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service for Lucille directly at St. Patrick's Cemetery on Fuller Road in Chicopee, MA for 11:00 A.M.
