Marcel R. Forcier                                                          1918-2010 CHICOPEE - Marcel R. Forcier, 91, a life long Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke. He was born in Chicopee on November 15, 1918, a son of the late Dolor E. and Albertine (Harnisch) Forcier. Marcel attended Chicopee High School and was a WWII U.S. Army Air Force veteran obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He received the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with clasp, and the World War Two Victory Medal. He retired in 1981 after 32 years as a dispatcher for the City of Chicopee Fire Department, and also retired in 1981 after 16 years at Dual Manufacturing in Holyoke. Marcel was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (Grinuk) Forcier, in 1992; and three brothers, J. Arthur, Raymond, and Roland Forcier. He is survived by his three children, Michael J. Forcier and his wife Helen Bergman of West Springfield, Deborah A. Snyder and her husband Daniel of Chicopee, and Donna M. Westberg and her husband Dale of Greenville, RI; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held on Monday, April 26th at 12 p.m. in the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with Rites of Committal to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Abbey Memorial Drive, both in Chicopee. Marcel's family will receive relatives and friends at the visitation on Monday prior to the service from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marcel's memory to the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
