Margaret Mary Goddu

Margaret Goddu 1909-2009     Margaret (Carr) Goddu, 100, of Holyoke, formerly of Chicopee, passed away in the loving presence of her family on Monday, August 3, 2009 in Holyoke Heathcare Center.  Born in Holyoke she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Roach) Carr. Margaret was a retired sales clerk for the former Albert Steiger's Department Store of Springfield.  She had also been employed by the former F. W. Sickles of Chicopee.  Margaret was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee.  She was a wonderful wife and mother who loved her family dearly.  She enjoyed dancing and was an avid bingo player.  Margaret was predeceased by her husband Harold E. Goddu in 1960 and by her grandson, Sean McCurdy in 2004. She was also predeceased by her brothers Thomas Carr and John Carr and by her sister Anna Edwards.  She leaves her loving children, James Goddu of Springfield, Brian Goddu of Chicopee, Barbara Bassett of Glendora, NJ, Frances Goddu of New York, NY, Gail Bernier and Janice Breyare both of Chicopee; a sister, Marilyn Rowley of Chicopee; (12) grandchildren; (7) great grandchildren and (2) great great grandchildren.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning, August 6, 2009 at the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee.
