Marie Anne Blanche Cecile Desforges

November 2, 1919 — March 12, 2020

CHICOPEE -Marie Anne Blanche Cecile (Jette) Desforges, 100, of Chicopee entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, March 12, 2020 surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was born in Swanton, Vermont on November 2, 1919 a daughter of the late Joseph Ovila and Azilda Hélène (Turgeon) Jette.  Cecile, at the age of seven, moved to Chicopee, where she has lived ever since.  She attended the former St. George School and graduated from Chicopee High School. During World War II she worked at the Armory in Springfield, refinishing rifles for the war effort. Cecile met Joseph Noel Daniel Desforges and they were married in St. George's Church on October 24, 1942 beginning a long and happy life together. Cecile, always supportive of her husband, worked alongside Danny in his photography business. She continued working and finished in the Art Department of Rich Lithographing Company in Springfield after many years.  Family was Cecile's life, her generous personality, devotion to her family and self- sacrifice for them were a guide in how she lived her life. When you met Cecile, she became a faithful friend and those relationships live even to this day for those who know her. A devoted Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and was a longtime member of the former St. George's Church in Chicopee.   Cecile's beloved husband, Danny, passed away in 1974. She was also predeceased by several siblings; Gerard, Leonard, Marcel, Therese Gibson, Arthur, Wilfrid and Henri Jette. She leaves her devoted daughter, Ida Barla; two loving grandchildren; Christopher Barla and Kathryn Rivet (Thomas) and her beloved sister, Claire Jette all of Chicopee. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. CALLING HOURS WILL BE SATURDAY MORNING FROM 8:30 TO 9:30 A.M. AT TYLUNAS FUNERAL HOME, 159 BROADWAY ST., CHICOPEE FOLLOWED BY A PRIVATE LITURGY OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL AT ST. ROSE DE LIMA CHURCH, 600 GRATTAN STREET, ALDENVILLE WITH RITES OF COMMITTAL TO FOLLOW IN ST. ROSE DE LIMA CEMETERY, OLSEN ST., ALDENVILLE.



(State & Diocesan guidelines, due to the recent illnesses, restrict the attendance at the Funeral Mass. Attendees at Visitation are asked to pay brief respects, no personal contact to allow us to accommodate the Governor's numeric limitations for gatherings.)
