Marilyn J. Shannahan                                                                      1935 ~ 2007   Springfield- Marilyn "Lynn" J. (Caban) Shannahan, of Springfield, passed away on Monday September 3, 2007 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicopee on May 27, 1935 a daughter of the late Sylvester and Catherine (Zajdel) Caban. Lynn graduated from Chicopee High School and received her Masters Degree in education from American International College. She retired as a teacher from the Springfield Public Schools. Lynn is survived by her husband, James J. Shannahan; four children, Linda J. David and son-in-law Gregory M. David of Springfield, John J. Shannahan of Bennington, VT, Mark R. Shannahan of Springfield, and Karen D. Braica and her husband Mark of Springfield; six grandchildren, Lauren, Nicole, Eric, Bryan, Kailyn, and Michael; a great-granddaughter, Chloe; and a godson Michael Russell III. She was predeceased by a sister, Judi Russell; and a brother, Frederick Caban. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 7th at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield. Burial is private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
