Marjorie A. Chretien

CHICOPEE- Marjorie A. (Wilkins) Szaban Chretien, 83, a longtime area resident entered into the journey of eternal rest on Wednesday July 12, 2006 at Birch Manor Nursing Home. Marjorie was born in Coldbrook, MA, December 6, 1922 a daughter of the late Oliver and Etta Mae (Snow) Wilkins. She was educated in the Rutland Massachusetts School System, and was a graduate of Rutland High School. She toured with the USO for several years and was privileged to have worked with Kate Smith. Marjorie was predeceased by her husbands, Frank P. Szaban in 1944 and Joseph A. Chretien in 1992. Marjorie is survived by her nine loving children, her sons, Frederick Szaban and his wife Jeannette of Worcester; Donald Chretien and his wife Phyllis of Springfield; Bob Chretien and his wife Donna of Springfield; Tom Chretien and his wife Donna of Chicopee; Anthony Chretien of Springfield, her daughters, Marjorie Szaban Sullivan of Chicopee; Lillian Martin and her husband Bob of Agawam; Janice Barber of Springfield; Susie Chretien of Springfield. She will be remembered by her brother, Ronald Wilkins of Rutland, MA; her sister, Marion Charron of Oakham, MA and her many many adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marjorie will be missed by all those that she so loving opened her home and heart too, and the wonderful, caring staff at Birch Manor who made her feel at home. A special thank you to Alice Savage and her family for their care and devotion to Marjorie. Marjorie now joins her children, James Szaban , Joseph Chretien, Jr., Laurie Chretien and Etta Mae Chretien , whom have entered into eternal rest. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday July 16th from 4-7:00 P.M. at Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee 01020. The funeral service will conclude with a Legacy Candle Ceremony and Service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening. The burial will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
