Mark L. Rego

Mark L. Rego 1961 - 2010 Chicopee - Mark L. Rego, 49, died on Wednesday, May 19 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness.  He was born in Springfield on February 9, 1961, a son of the late Charles and Eufigenia (Silva) Rego.  He was a graduate of Chicopee High School class of 1979 and played football as a kicker on the team.  Mark received a Black Belt for his Karate skills and was also a competitive power lifter.  He enjoyed operating his remote controlled trucks and was a friend of Bill's.  He was previously employed at the former Major Wire Company of Chicopee for many years before his illness.  He is survived his fiancée Denise "Dee Dee" Heath of Chicopee, his brother, David C. Rego of Portland, CT, three sisters, Mary E. Vanwert and her husband Larry of Chicopee, Christine J. Diehl and her husband Richard of Dover, DE, and Laurie A. Cote of Chicopee.  He also leaves his niece, Nicole Laird, and nephew, Matthew Diehl.  Mark's family would like to extend thanks to his special caregivers, Heather Heath and Michaela Charpentier.  Friends are requested to meet on Saturday, June 5 at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St. for a 9am Liturgy of Christian Burial.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd., both in Chicopee.  There are no calling hours.  The Tylunas Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
