Mary C. Durej

Mary C. Durej 1920 - 2009   CHICOPEE - Mary Durej, 89, died on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Baystate Medical Center.  Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Durej, to whom she was married for 61 years.  Mary was born in Chicopee on August 15, 1920, daughter of the late Wojciech and Katarzyna Blondek (Partyka). Mary leaves behind her loving family: her son Daniel and his wife Louise of Suffield, CT and their son, Mary's cherished grandson, Christopher, of Manchester, CT; also her daughter Elaine Georges and her husband Ronald of Chicopee.  Mary is survived by a brother, Michael Blondek of Holyoke and his wife Fran.  She also leaves behind nieces and nephews.  Mary was predeceased by three brothers, Felix, John and Joseph Blondek and two sisters, Rose Urban and Emily Dziedzic. In her early years Mary worked for Brown's Cannery and Chicopee Undergarment.  She will be remembered for her love of family, life and laughter. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, September 30, 5-8 pm at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, MA, 01020.  A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, October 1 at 11 am at Tylunas Funeral Home followed by Rites of Committal and burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St., in Chicopee.  Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
