Mary T. Strempek

Mary T. (Krewalk) Strempek 1926-2012 CHICOPEE - Mary T. Strempek, 85, of Chicopee, died Saturday February 4, 2012 in South Hadley. Born in Hartford, CT, March 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine Krewalk.  Mary lived in Hartford for 26 years and was a graduate of St. Michael High School in Hartford. She later was employed as a secretary to the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation for the state of Connecticut before moving to Chicopee. She worked as a payroll clerk for the Chicopee Public School Administration Office for 25 years and was a member and past president of the Massachusetts Association of School Secretaries. Mary was a very accomplished, talented and creative person. She received a certificate of achievement in interior design and was a skilled seamstress, making her own daughter's wedding gown. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling and painting. In addition, she was a member of the Springfield YMCA where she participated in the swimming and exercise programs and was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph J. Strempek who died in 1980. She leaves three sons Joseph R. of Akron, OH, Steve E. of Granby, and Robert M. and his wife Debra Sherrer of Chicopee, two daughters, Theresa M. Strempek and her husband Peter McMillan of Pacific Palisades, CA, and Linda J. Strempek of Wilton, CT, six grandchildren, Peter and Graham McMillan, Justin, Dylan, and Chauncey Sidell, and Corey Strempek and one great grandson Coryion Strempek. The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 8th , at 9am from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Stanislaus Church at 10am.
