Maurice Frederic Morin of Chicopee, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 26, 2026. He was born on October 4, 1937, in Lewiston, Maine to his late parents Rene and Ella (Fontaine) Morin. Maurice married Colette (Marcelle Marguerite Foulet) in 1958 and together they raised their five sons. He was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow, as well as the Knights of Columbus in Chicopee, the Moose Lodge in Chicopee, and the Springfield Yacht and Canoe Club. He also served alongside Colette on the Human Rights Commission to help his son Michael and other disabled individuals. Maurice proudly earned the rank of Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country with honor for 20 years as an aircraft maintenance supervisor. After his military service, he founded Maurice Morin & Sons Remodeling, which he successfully operated for 30 years. He loved going fishing with his friends and family and enjoyed going to the shooting range at Ludlow Fish and Game Club. Maurice deeply loved his wife of almost 67 years, together they shared a beautiful life, traveling to France many times to visit her family where many treasured memories were made. His greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved.
Maurice is predeceased by his parents, his son Michael, his brothers Donald, James and Lawrence Morin, his sister Claudette Deveaudreil and his grandson Kevin Morin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Colette, his sons Daniel and his wife Mary of South Hadley, Gerry and his wife Monique of Ludlow, David and his partner Joyce LeBlanc of Chicopee, Philippe of Virginia, his daughter-in-law Khristine Roxo of Ludlow, as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours and viewing will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tylunas Funeral Home at 159 Broadway Street in Chicopee. Friends and family are invited to return to Tylunas on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM before proceeding to St. Elizabeth Parish, 191 Hubbard St., Ludlow, for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, followed by Rites of Committal with military honors at 1:00 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
