Maxwell S. Mackechnie

Maxwell S. Mackechnie, 84 longtime resident of Chicopee Falls passed away September 17, 2016.  His parents, with their siblings, immigrated from Scotland and raised their families on Butler Ave.  He was a graduate of Chicopee High School and UMass Amherst. Max was a US Navy veteran serving at Bethesda hospital and retiree of Carlisle Tire and Rubber.  He was predeceased by his wonderful wife Marie, and leaves behind his equally wonderful daughter Anne Marie, her husband Scott, loving grandkids Ezra and Honor Crosby of Philadelphia.  Max was member of Kennedy post of the American Legion and served on the Chicopee Retirement board for 35 years, as both Chairman and member.  He was an avid golfer, piano player and would break into a Scottish brogue, especially while speaking to his aunts and uncles.  All are invited to calling hours on Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 4pm - 7pm at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee.  Services will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by burial with military honors at 11am at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
