Melvin E. Gamble 1917-2005 Springfield- Melvin Ellsworth Gamble, 88, ascended into the journey of eternal life, April 28, 2005 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. Born in Ludlow, on January 7, 1917, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Stewart) Gamble. He was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. Melvin served his country during World War II, in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in January 1946. Melvin was an Engineering Fuel Analyst, and retired in 1982, from Western Mass. Electric after 23 years of service. Previously, he was employed by General Electric, Springfield. A resident of Springfield for almost 50 years, he had also resided in Chicopee Falls. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Chicopee. Melvin is survived by his beloved wife the former Ethel Dunn, to whom he was married to for 64 years. Melvin also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted children: 2 sons, Ronald Gamble and his companion Ronan Houle both of Springfield, Robert Gamble and his wife Pat of Chicopee, a daughter, Judy Pagella and husband Thomas of Agawam, 7 special grandchildren and 2 treasured great grand children. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee. His burial with military honor will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Parker Street, Springfield. His calling hours, at the funeral home, will take place on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
