Mina E. Ashford 1922-2010 SOUTHWICK- Mina E. (Forrest) Ashford, 88, of Southwick and formerly of Springfield, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Mina was born in Brewer, ME on February 7, 1922, a daughter of the late William J. and Annie M. (Taylor) Forrest Cameron. She retired from the former Buxton Inc., Agawam. Mina was a former member of Springfield Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun Casino, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and avid Bingo player. Mina was predeceased by her husband, Rolin U. Ashford on July 29, 1986; a son-in-law, Don Chretien on May 7, 2010; a brother, Robert Forrest; and two sisters, Betty Moore and Phyllis Ireland. She is survived by two daughters, Mary A. Alaimo and her husband Matthew of Southwick; and Phyllis M. Wassung-Chretien of Springfield; five grandchildren, Billy, Lisa, Lori, Dennis, and Dan; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Forrest and his wife Dot of Bangor, ME; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held on Monday, December 6th at 11 a.m. in the SOUTHWICK FUNERAL HOME, 624 COLLEGE HIGHWAY, with burial to follow in NEW CEMETERY, COLLEGE HIGHWAY, both in SOUTHWICK. Mina's family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Sunday, December 5th from 1-3 p.m. in the SOUTHWICK FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made in Mina's memory to Mercy Hospice, 1236 Main St., Holyoke, MA 01040. The Tylunas Funeral Home of Chicopee is assisting the Ashford family with funeral arrangements.
