Normand A. Lamelin 1939-2003 Normand Lemelin, age 64, died at his sisters home on July 4, 2003. Born June 6, 1936 in Chicopee he was the cherished son of the late Arthur P. and Laura ( Rouillard) Lemelin. He has been a resident of Chicopee most of his life and was educated at La Mennais Prep in Alfred, Me, where he later taught history, coached baseball, basketball and hockey. He studied at Notre Dame Seminary and was a Christian Brother until 1970. He worked at Trade Composition as a printer and later graduated from the New York School of Dog Grooming in 1978. The opening of his own shop called The Dog House began his career as a dog groomer. His love of dogs was noticed by his many customers. He was a member of the Mass. Association of Professional Dog Groomers. He remained in business until he was forced to close his shop due to illness. A communicant of St. Patrick's Church, he was a member of their choir for many years, and an announcer for the American Legion Baseball Team. Normand was pre-deceased by his sister Lucille Picher and brother Robert Lemelin. He is survived by one brother Roger Lemelin of Springfield and two sisters Lillian Bigda and her husband Theodore and Claire Cucchi and her husband Eric and a brother in Law Roland Picher all of Chicopee. He also leaves a niece Jeanne Pasierb of Lakeville, Ma who was like a sister to him and several other nieces and nephews. He leaves his companion of many years Lucie Nadeau and her daughter Christine Love, His dear friend Richard Poudrier and wife Elaine. Normand will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He was loved by everyone who met him. Funeral Tuesday 10:30 AM from the Tylunas Funeral Home of Chicopee, mass at 11:30 AM in St. Patrick's Church, burial in St. Rose De Lima Cemetery.
