Rachel Charlebois1924-2015Holyoke- Rachel (Banville) Charlebois, 91 of Holyoke, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Wingate in West Springfield. She was born in Quebec, Canada on January 30, 1924 and was the eldest of nine children born to the late Albert and Alice (Lavoi) Banville. Rachel lived in Drummondville, Canada until she married in 1951. After the birth of her son, Robert in 1956, she moved to Huntington Beach, CA where she lived for many years. Rachel also lived in Big Bear, CA where she owned and operated Charlebois House Cleaning Services with her husband, Robert P. Charlebois, until his passing in 1982. Rachel moved and lived in Seattle, WA for 8 years before moving to the Chicopee/Holyoke area in 2000. Besides her son Robert Charlebois of Tacoma, WA and daughter Linda McGugan and her husband Gary of Newmarket, Ontario; she leaves 2 brothers, Gaitan and Jacques Banville; 5 sisters, Jacqueline Lamothe, Muriel Cayer, Fernande Ricard all of Canada; Berangere Bourbeau of Chicopee, Rejeanne Petit of Springfield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Rachel loved doing word searches to keep her mind active. She was always ready with a smile and a cup of coffee for her neighbors. Her loving and witty personality will be missed by all. She loved to go to "On The Border" for chicken enchiladas and a marguerite . In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, 1330 W. Peachtree St., Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30309 or to one's favorite charity. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10am in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd, Springfield followed by Rites of Committal in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd, Springfield.
