Raymond T. O'Donnell Sr.1923-2014Chicopee- Raymond T. O'Donnell Sr., 91, of Chicopee, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. Born and raised in Holyoke on September 10, 1923, he was a son of the late Thomas and Florence (Lamielle) O'Donnell. Raymond graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1941. He retired from Uniroyal Tire Co. after 34 years of service. Ray loved sports; he was the captain for the Uniroyal softball team for many years and won many tournaments at Old Mannings in Fairview. He was an avid bowler and played in many leagues at the Bowlorama in Holyoke, now the Fun Time Lanes. Ray was a veteran of the Army Signal Corps attached to the 7th Air Force during WWII; he served in the Pacific Theatre on Saipan, Okinawa for two years and also served in Hawaii for 8 months. He leaves his loving wife, Cecile (Moreau) O'Donnell; his son, Walter O'Donnell and his wife Marilyn; his daughter-in-law, Carol O'Donnell; his niece Jacquelin O'Donnell Jordan; four grandchildren, Kim, Kelly, Kristen, and Kevin; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Curtis, Nathan, and Ashlynn. Ray was predeceased by his son Raymond T. O' Donnell Jr. and his brother John T. O'Donnell. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 1pm in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St, Agawam. A calling hour will be held on Sunday, December 28th from 1-2pm at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee.
