CHICOPEE- Richard "Dick" P. Ayotte, 88, a life long Chicopee resident, entered into eternal rest on Sunday May 28, 2006 at home. He was born in Chicopee on November 11, 1917 a son of the late John J. and Cora M. (Tetreault) Ayotte. Richard attended Chicopee High school, and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran obtaining the rank of SGT, and received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Distinguished Unit Badge, and WWII Victory Medal. He participated in battles in Luzon Northern Solomons, China, New Guinea, Western Pacific, and Southern Philippines. Richard retired from Westinghouse in Springfield and Spalding in Chicopee. He enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of Ludlow Country Club, and also enjoyed yard work and making model boats. Richard's true love and enjoyment was spending time with his loving and devoted wife of 56 years; Almeda E. (Rivest) Ayotte, who he leaves to cherish his memory, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; Norman, Raymond, and Edward Ayotte, and three sisters; Gertrude Fidalgo, Mildred Volk, and Leona Farrington. Funeral services will gather on Wednesday May 31st at 9:45 a.m. at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., with Rites of Committal to follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St., all in Chicopee. Richard's family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
