Richard Brolund 1928-2010 CHICOPEE- Richard Brolund, 81, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at home with his loving wife and son by his side. He was born in New York, New York on September 8, 1928 the son of the late Martha (Hetzel) Brolund. Richard was a United States Marine Corp. WWII veteran serving in China for two years. He retired from Package Machinery and also worked as the produce manager for A&P Supermarket. Richard was president for 20 years of the Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers Union and was an active member of the former St. Patrick's Church. Richard was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants and was looking forward to the upcoming season. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Pauline G. (Bazinet) Brolund; a son, Gregory V. Brolund and his wife Jean of Ellicott City, MD; three grandchildren, Beth, Jonathan, and Matthew Brolund; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Brolund; a niece, Nancy Hastings; a grand-niece, Denine Hastings-Guardino; and a grand-nephew, Sean McEachin. A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, August 25th at 10 a.m. in the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Road, both in Chicopee. Richard's family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Tuesday, August 24th from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
