Richard G. Jakubasz                                                                1929-2010   CHICOPEE- Richard "Rick" G. Jakubasz, 80, a 56 year Chicopee resident and formerly of Holyoke, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 4, 2010 in Holyoke Medical Center. Richard was born in Chicopee on May 28, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Michon) Jakubasz Sr. He graduated from Holyoke High School and attended Holyoke Community College. Richard was a purchasing agent, retiring from Brimfield Precision and had worked previously for Spaulding Sports World Wide where he spent the majority of his career. He was a WWII United States Coast Guard veteran. Richard was a communicant of the former Assumption Church, Chicopee, and was a member of the Purchasing Agents Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Richard had a great love for his family and had the ability to make people laugh. Richard is survived to cherish his memory by his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine M. (Pouliot) Jakubasz; three devoted children, Michael R. Jakubasz and his wife Sara Hallager of Silver Spring, MD, Karen P. Vlohiotis and her husband Bruce of Easthampton, and Jeffrey M. Jakubasz and his wife Marcia of Belchertown; three cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, and Amy; and many close relatives. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Jakubasz Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8th beginning at 9 a.m. from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St., with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, 45 Olsen St., all in Chicopee. Richard's family will receive relatives and friends at the calling hours on Thursday, January 7th (This Evening) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
