Richard L. Kowalewski

Richard L. Kowalewski1928-2015Chicopee- Richard Leo Kowalewski entered into the after-life on August 1, 2015. Richard was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife of 63 years, Marie A. Kowalewski, both of Chicopee. He was born in Pittsburgh PA on May 31st, 1929, to the late Leo and Stella Kowalewski. He was predeceased by his Brother Donald (wife Joan) of Michigan, and step-sons Donald and Edward Williams. Richard held a variety of jobs throughout his career and spent the majority of his working years before retirement at Dow Jones in Chicopee. Richard was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Chicopee and devoted hours of service to both Bingo and fund-raising for charity. Richard leaves behind his loyal son Michael and his wife Gail of Agawam as well as his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Michelle Kowalewski-Lantaigne and husband Peter of West Springfield and David Kowalewski and wife Erin Reilly-Kowalewski of Orange, CT. Richard also departs his step children Ronald Williams, Toni Barnum and her husband Jeffrey of Alabama, as well as his brother, Robert and wife, Rita, of Pennsylvania. Richard loved a good meal and family gatherings and spent many events with his family, including his beloved great-grandchildren, Emma and Grace Lantaigne. Gary Hebert and Numa Navarro completed his circle of family and memories of holidays and friendship. Special thanks to his wonderful friends and neighbors: Marcie, Fran and David as well as his Caregivers at Baystate Medical Center and Country Estates. A special thanks to his homecare PCAs: Christina and Kimberly, all of their support helped Richard live the life he chose in his home. In abiding with Richard's wishes, there will be no formal services held in his honor. Richard's immediate family will privately celebrate his life and legacy in a manner that is reflective of his wishes.
