Obituary

Robert Karcz, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026. Bob was born in Holyoke on January 7th, 1959, to Walter and Helen (Gasiorowski) Karcz. After graduating high school, he obtained college credits from Holyoke Community College before joining the Army National Guard in 1984, then transferring his talents to the Air Force reserves. In all, he spent a proud twenty-nine years serving his country working in the mobility departments before retiring in 2013.

During his college days, Bob shared his love of music through the radio as a disc jockey, entertaining many listeners. He held a passionate appreciation for nature, enjoying many hours soaking up the sun outdoors. Though inside, he took up the hobby of cooking delicious cuisine with a special interest in Spanish food. Not only could he cook Spanish food, but he taught himself the language, becoming incredibly proficient in his bilingual studies. As a devout Catholic, he was a proud member of the St. Anthony’s parish.

Robert is predeceased by his mother and father, Walter and Helen as well as his beloved Bella, his canine companion of many years. He is survived by his sisters Anita Karcz and her partner Joan, Susan Karcz and her husband Allan, Denise Devine and her husband Gerry, his daughters Melissa and her partner Fae, Pamela and her husband Brett, his sons Andrew, Daniel and his wife Caitlyn, his five grandchildren Keira, Leila, Aubrielle, Emberly, and Barrett, his niece Kelley Dunphy and her husband Casey, his nephew Patrick Devine, and his four-legged friend Ernie, whom he so lovingly rescued following Bella.

Services for Robert will include calling hours at Tylunas Funeral Home at 159 Broadway Street in Chicopee, MA, on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, from 4 P.M to 6 P.M.
