Robert J. “Kris” Krstyen, 90, of Circle drive passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 9, 2022 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Kris was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late John and Mary (Kondash) Krstyen. He grew up in Pennsylvania and was educated in schools there. Kris enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and soon moved to Massachusetts, assigned to the 1600th Air Police Squad at Westover Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and continued working for the Department of Defense at Westover before his retirement. He also worked for Uniroyal in Chicopee for 23 years. He met his wife, the former Geraldine Maroney when he moved to Massachusetts and they were soon married, settling in Chicopee. Kris was an avid golfer and member of the Chicopee County club where he golfed for many years with his buddies. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Geraldine; two sons, David and Richard along with all his siblings. He leaves his children; Robert Krstyen and his wife Heidi of Chicopee, Tommy and his wife Sally of Agawam, John Krstyen and his wife Karen of Springfield, Daniel Krstyen and his wife Nikki of Hamden, Mary Jo Dube and her companion Jimmie of Chicopee, his companion of 16 years Mary Ellen Caloon, seventeen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
