Robert R. Lafreniere

Robert Ross LaFreniere, 82, of Blanan Drive in Chicopee passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve at home with family at his side. Robert was born in Springfield on September 21, 1938, the same day the Great New England Hurricane of 38' struck New England. He was a lifelong Chicopee resident, attended local schools and graduated from Chicopee High School. He enlisted in the US Army serving honorably from 1961 to 1963 when he was discharged and returned home. Robert married the former Catherine Judd on August 7, 1965 at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley and they enjoyed 55 years of love, family and happiness together. Robert began a long career with Avery Dennison, formerly National Blank Book, working there before he enlisted. His career as a receiver spanned 56 years before he retired in 2000. He was a devoted communicant of the former St. Patrick's Church in Chicopee. He loved spending time with his family, his beloved grandchildren and his four legged canine friends. The family enjoyed trips to Garnet Lake in Peru, where they enjoyed camping and get togethers.

He was sadly predeceased by his loving son, Bruce J. LaFreniere in January of this year. He leaves his beloved wife, Catherine (Judd) LaFreniere. His children; Michael LaFreniere of South Hadley, Melissa Laurin of Chicopee, Jennifer Burnett and her husband Stephen of Chicopee, Billy LaFreniere and his wife Christina, Ross LaFreniere of Chicopee and  son-in-law, Richard R. Laurin Jr. His cherished grandchildren; Steven, Samual and Sarah Laurin, Zachary & Ariel LaFreniere, and Gehrig and Brady Burnett and a great grandson, Easton Berge.

There are no calling hours. A private service for Robert will be announced at a later date.
