Robert F. Legnard 1933 - 2003 Robert F. (Leggy) Legnard 69, of Chicopee and Melbourne Beach, FL died Saturday May 10, in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. Robert started working for the AV Rivest Oil Company as an oil burner technician for 12 years. He then went to work for the Spaulding Company of CT as a computer technician for 20 years and retired in 1985. He served the City of Chicopee as an Auxiliary Police Officer for 15 years and also as a Deputy Sheriff with the Hampden County Sheriff's Department. Born in Springfield on October 22, 1933, the son of the late Clesson and Irene (Flaherty) Legnard he was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He graduated from Chicopee High School, was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elk, the Melbourne Florida Lodge of Elk, and a communicant of St. George's Church, Chicopee. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by a son Robert F. Legnard Jr. who died July 2, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Janice F. (Lyon) Legnard A daughter; Diane L. and her husband Gregory P. Strattner of Westfield, MA 6 step children; Linda Cleveland of Warren, MA James Doyle of Paris, KY, William Doyle of Palmer, MA Janice Doyle, Theresa Doyle, and Doreen Cunningham all of Chicopee A daughter in law; Patricia Legnard of Holyoke, MA 3 Grandchildren; Gregory P. Strattner Jr., Michelle M. Strattner, and Victoria Legnard 10 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Robert's funeral will be Tuesday morning 9:00 A.M. at the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway Chicopee followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. George's Church, Chicopee. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. Visiting hours are Monday 4 to 8 P.M.
