CHICOPEE Robert J. Montero, 53, of Chicopee passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family by his side. Rob was born in Springfield, the only child of Carlos Montero and Otilia Bueno. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and also attended Holyoke Community College. Rob shared a love of advocating for people. His compassion was evident throughout his career at Sunshine Village. Rob worked 27 years with Sunshine Village as a Program Manager and also spent seven years employed at the Holyoke Rehabilitation Center. Rob was a devoted member of Lifepoint Church in Chicopee where he participated in the prayer group. He leaves behind those he cherished dearly including his dear wife of 22 years Lisa (Labonte) Montero; his children Anthony Montero and his partner Parris Leary, Evan Montero, and Carley Muska and her husband Jordan. He also leaves behind his two cherished grandchildren Carolyn and Lola Muska who he adored with all of his heart.
He loved spending time with family and his love for them was reflected in the thousands of pictures he took to capture the joyous memories. He enjoyed many interests and hobbies including photography and knife collecting. He had a passion for music, singing and playing his guitars. He enjoyed Karoake and had all the audio equipment for an impromptu session no matter where or when. A very caring and loving person, Rob’s generosity and dedication to those he knew was seemingly endless. He was an amazing husband and father and was known for his amazing omelets and breakfast sandwiches. The center of his life was spending time with family, small travels, and watching his children and grandchildren grow up. He enjoyed watching them participate in many sports, musical and dance performances.
Rob, to say thank you for all that you have done for us would not be enough. We love you more than you could ever know and more than we could ever show. We will always love you and you will be in our hearts forever. Your strength will endure forever in us, and many great memories surround us. Now go on your new journey and enjoy your time with your family and friends that have gone before. You’re dancing with the angels and heaven fills your eyes, one day we’ll see you again.
