Roland J. Deyette 1931-2010 CHICOPEE - Roland J. Deyette, 78, life long resident of Chicopee, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. Roland was born, June 16, 1931, the youngest child of the late William J. and Alida M. (Gadoury) Deyette. He was a communicant of the former St. George Parish where he also attended elementary school, later going on to trade school. Roland then joined the Navy where he was stationed in Panama in the Transportation Department during the Korean War. Upon his discharge he was employed by the Monsanto Co., now Solutia, where for 42 years he was a first class millwright. Roland was a member of the Monsanto 25 Year Club, former member and board of director of the Tiger A.C. and also a former member of the Moose Family Center. Roland's presence and sense of humor will be missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary (Goodfellow) Deyette, his daughter, Nancy Lavallee and her husband Donald, His son Paul Deyette, his daughter, Lynn Carson and her husband Paul. He also leaves his 4 grandchildren who he was most proud of, Kimberly and Donald "DJ" Lavallee, Matthew and Melissa Carson, all of Chicopee. He also leaves a sister, Cecile Robidoux of Virginia, as well as many nieces and nephews. Roland was predeceased by his oldest son, Gary Deyette in 2006 as well as his siblings, Rita Denette, Alida Hurley, Lorraine Lafountaine and William Deyette, Jr. Funeral services will be Monday, June 7, 2010 from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Aldenville, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee.
