Ronald A. Forbes1934 - 2012Chicopee - Ronald A. Forbes, 78, of Chicopee died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. Born in Holyoke on April 16, 1934, he was the son of the late George L. and Hazel R. (McLane) Forbes. Ron was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and received the National Defense Service Ribbon and the Navy Occupation with the European Clasp Service Ribbon.  He retired in 1980 after 30 years of faithful and honorable service obtaining the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer.  He leaves his wife, Laurie A. (Cote) Forbes; two sons, Michael Forbes of N.H. and Chris Forbes of Ohio; two daughters Tammy Gauthier of CT. and Becky Wright of PA; one sister, Marian Harris of Chicopee and 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald, Jr., his sister Shirley Prindle, and two brothers Donald and George Forbes.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 19th, at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1pm.
