Russell J. Douglass                                         1957-2004 CHICOPEE- Russell J. Douglass, 47, a life long Springfield resident, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 14, 2005 in Agawam. He was born in Springfield on May 24, 1957 the son of Bernice M. (Hassett) Douglass and the late Leonard E. Douglass. Russell attended Springfield public schools and graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School. He was employed for many years at The Treasure Chest in East Longmeadow and most recently at Ludlow Textile in Ludlow. Russell enjoyed reading, music and was an avid sports fan. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. Russell was predeceased by his father Leonard Douglass in 1996. He is survived by his mother Bernice (Hassett) Douglas of Chicopee, two brothers, Robert L. Douglass and his wife Debbie of Chicopee, and Warren T. Douglass of Northampton, a sister, Dianne Cox of Boca Raton, Florida, a close friend, Bird Donaldson of Feeding Hills, nephews Michael Douglass, Derek Cox, Matthew Douglass, Shawn Haney and Joseph Douglass, and two nieces Holly Cochrane and Kelley Douglass.  A funeral home service will be held on Tuesday evening April 19th at 7 p.m. at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, MA. Visitation will precede the service from 3-7 p.m. Burial will be held on Thursday April 21st at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Road, Chicopee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center Physical Fitness Fund, c/o Chicopee Council on Aging, 7 Valley View Ct., Chicopee, MA 01020.
