Susan Ann Croteau

Susan A. "Susie" Croteau, 67, passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2015. She was vacationing at her "home away from home", St. Maarten, N.A. Her husband George A., her son George M., and her friends Mary and Jackie were at her side. She was born to Roland & Geraldine Nadeau (Starr) on July 28, 1948 in Springfield, MA. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Springfield. She worked for many years at the telephone company in Springfield, MA, followed by almost 15 years for Albert Steiger Co. and her most recent employment of 27 years at the Hampden County District Court in downtown Springfield where she retired from in 2013. Her passions in life included traveling with her family to destinations such as Cape Cod, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls and St. Maarten, shopping with her close friend Collette on Saturdays, meeting up with "the girls from work" for dinner, talking on the phone with her many friends every night of the week, and making sure she was always available unselfishly with advice, love and support for everyone in her life, both family and friends, as well as her beloved son, Georgie...her "valentine". Anyone that has ever met Susie knows the she was a woman truly loved by all and her memory will live on in all who knew her. A woman who deeply touched the lives of every person she met during her abbreviated life before being called home.  Not only a warm and compassionate person, she had an immensely strong spirit and will. She successfully fought and defeated ovarian cancer during the summer of 2014. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 45 years, George A. Croteau, her son George M. Croteau and his wife Suzanne (Everett) of Ludlow, her mother Geraldine Starr, brothers Jeffrey, Jon, and David Starr, father in law George M. Croteau and wife Linna (Longley) of Englewood, FL & Westfield , MA, and numerous other relatives & family members. She also leaves behind countless friends and acquaintances including  Collette & Maurice Morin, Mary & Francis "Red" Martin, Jackie & Chester Szymczyk, and her "son" in St. Maarten, Luckner "Quick" Laventure. She was predeceased by her sister, Cynthia Daly, and her stepfather George J. Starr. Family and friends are invited to gather for time of remembrance on Sunday November 22nd from 2pm -7pm at Tylunas Funeral Home at 159 Broadway in Chicopee. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 395 Chestnut St. in Springfield at 10am on Monday November 23rd, followed by Christian burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chicopee.
