Thomas R Waldron Sr.

April 10, 1950 — December 24, 2019

GRANBY-Thomas R. Waldron Sr., 69, of Taylor Street passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2019 at his home. Tommy or Tom as his family and friends knew him as, was born on April 10, 1950 in Ludlow, the son of the late Norman and Jeanne (Besse) Waldron. He grew up in Indian Orchard, attending local schools including St. Matthews RC School and graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1968.  He enlisted in the US Army in September of 1969, serving as a Medical Corpsman with the 5th US Army. He was honorably discharged in 1971 and returned home to Indian Orchard.  Tom began a long career as a CNC Machinist, first with Chapman Valve, then later Kidder-Stacy Valve in Springfield, Monarch Valve in Westfield and finally Con-Valve in Connecticut where he retired from. Tom enjoyed sports and played softball in his youth for Chapman Valve. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and card games with friends and family, watching sports, fishing, walks down the railroad tracks, playing pool and spending times with friends.  He had lived in the Orchard most of his life and moved to Granby in 2010. He was a proud veteran and longtime member of the American Legion Post 277 in the Orchard. Tom was predeceased by a brother, Robert Waldron. He leaves his children; Darcy Waldron of Chicopee, Alyssa Mills of Claremont, NH and Thomas Waldron Jr. of Chicopee and two grandchildren; Makaylee and Bryson.  Most importantly our family asks that you take a moment to hug your child, your grandchild, a friend, spend time with loved ones, help a stranger; Time waits for no one. Family and friends will gather to remember Tom on Friday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam for Rites of Committal with US Army Honors. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
