Victor R. Girard 1930 ~ 2008   CHICOPEE---Victor R. Girard, 78, a life long resident of this city and a former member of the Chicopee Fire Department, died Monday at home.  Born & educated in Chicopee, he was the son of the late Arthur & Dora (Bonneau) Girard.   Victor was a graduate of Chicopee High School, and had served with the Chicopee Fire Department for 28 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.  Victor was also plumbing supervisor at Mt Holyoke College for many years, and was the plumbing inspector for the towns of South Hadley & Granby.  He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal.  He was a member of the Korean War Veterans, Knights of Columbus on Granby Rd., Tigers Athletic Club, American Legion #275 of Chicopee, and was a communicant of St. George Church, Chicopee. Victor is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris L. (Leroux) Girard, two sons, Randall Girard and his wife Elaine of Chicopee, and Alan Girard and his wife Muza of California, a daughter, Debbie Hearn and her husband Wayne of Wilbraham, two brothers, Leo Girard and wife Viola of Chicopee, and Donald Girard of Florida, three grandchildren, Vicki Bolduc and her husband Brandon, Raymond Girard, & Brian Hutchinson, and two great-grandchildren, Mikayla & Mia. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Friday, August 1, 2008 at 10 am in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.  Tylunas Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any Animal Charity of one's choice.
