Walter Midura 1925 ~ 2008 Springfield- Walter Midura 83, died Saturday at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Chicopee on April 14,1925 ; son of the late Stanley and Thelma (Pescz) Midura of Chicopee. Walter was a WW II U.S. Army veteran who served with the 104thinfantry in the European theatre. He owned and operated Midura's Garage in Granby, Ma. for over 40 years and later moved to Chicopee to specialize in Antique Car Restoration. Walter loved antique cars, and in 1948 became a founding member of the Connecticut Valley Region (CVR) of the American Automobile Club of America as well as being a founding member of the Western Massachusetts Model T Club. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Springfield. Walter was a devoted father; and husband of 53 years married to Freida (Pilon) Midura. He leaves his brother, Charles of Springfield; four children, Donna Kimball of Monson, Ma., Cynthia Czausz and husband, Edward of Chicopee, Ma., Martin and wife, Candace of West Lebanon, N.H. , and Brian of Springfield; along with 4 grandchildren, Alex Kimball, Steven and Monica Czausz, and Elana Midura. He leaves behind many close relatives and friends; with a special place in his heart for a lifetime friendship with Mary and Edward Jacot of of Chicopee. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Midura. Funeral services are Thursday beginning at 8:45 AM in the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee. This will be followed by a procession to St. Mary's Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield for a Liturgy of Christian Burial, to be celebrated, at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honor will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 9:00 PM.
