Wilbert R. Faust 1921-2008   Springfield- Wilbert R. Faust 86, passed away to be with Jesus at HolyokeMedicalCenter, on January 5, 2008.  He will always be remembered by family and friends by the nickname of "Snooks". Wilbert was born in Indian Orchard, on Nov. 22, 1921 a son, of the late Joseph and  Antoinette (Bienvenue) Faust. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy Veteran, and recipient of the highly honored Purple Heart.  He served aboard the USS Thatcher DD-514. He was wounded in the Battle of Empress, AugustaBay. He was honorably discharged, March 17, 1946. Wilbert was a retired from the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1989. Previously, he worked at Westover Airforce Base and as a crane operator for Chapman Valve Co. He is survived by his wife, Florence M. (Smith) Faust,  one son, Daniel J. F aust, of Lutz, Fl., two daughters, Margaret A. Mastalerz of West Springfield, and Patricia A. Burbee of Palmer; one sister, Rita Potito of Springfield;  8 grandchildren; one grandchild, Alan Burbee predeceasing his grandfather as an infant . Wilbert was also predeceased by his sisters, Adrienne LaFleche, Bertha Musinski; and his brothers, Adrien G. Faust, Bernard G. Faust, Germain L. Faust, Philias Faust and Aurelian D. Faust. Calling hours are Sunday  (January 13th,2008) afternoon from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Tylunas Funeral Home,159 Broadway, Chicopee. Funeral ceremonies with Military Honors will be held on Monday, (January 14th, 2008) 10:00 AM, Graveside, in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.
